Early morning is best for quieter water and better photos. Drivers such as Fumu, Mohammed, Henry, and Abdulaziz are praised for friendly local insight.

““Unforgettable experience swimming with turtles!” From start to finish, everything was well organized. Our driver arrived on time and was warm, friendly, and full of interesting facts about Zanzibar along the way. The cave itself is absolutely beautiful — crystal-clear water and majestic turtles gliding all around you. Feeding them seaweed and swimming alongside them felt magical and so unique. The staff made sure everyone was comfortable and safe, and they were happy to help capture great photos. I recommend going in the morning when it’s quieter, so you can fully enjoy the moment. A must-do experience in Zanzibar!”

SWIMMING WITH TURTLES AT SALAAM CAVE AT KIZIMKAZI ZANZIBAR

4.SWIMMING WITH TURTLES AT SALAAM CAVE AT KIZIMKAZI ZANZIBAR

★★★★★★★★★★4.2 · 112 reviews · 3 hours · from $50

Travel from your Zanzibar hotel to Salaam Cave in Kizimkazi for a guided swim with sea turtles in clear water. Your private group has about two hours at the aquarium site, though time in the cave may be closer to 45 to 60 minutes. Pickup, entry, a guide, and seaweed for feeding are included.

“Loved seeing and swimming with the turtles in the cave. Wasn’t overcrowded at all, only four other people there at the same time. The only thing I’d say is it was not three hours; we had maybe 45 minutes in the cave and did feel as though we were being waited on to get out; however, that was plenty of time as it is a small area.”
